Most comfort and plumbing complaints come from specific spaces: a hot upstairs or bonus room, an addition or garage the ductwork doesn't reach, a house that feels muggy, or a slab floor hiding a leak. Each has its own causes and fixes, from airflow corrections and ductless systems to whole-home dehumidifiers and slab leak detection.
Why do some rooms have problems the rest of the house doesn't?
Because systems are designed for the house as a whole. Rooms far from the equipment, over garages, under roofs or added later often get less airflow or more heat than the design planned for.
Plumbing works the same way. A slab home has water lines under the floor where a leak can run unnoticed, and a humid house can hide moisture problems that a thermostat never shows.
The fix starts with figuring out which space is the problem and why, instead of replacing equipment and hoping.
Is your upstairs or bonus room too hot?
Usually it's airflow: undersized or leaky ducts, weak returns, or a room the system was never sized for. Duct corrections or a ductless unit often fix it.
Heat rises, roofs bake in summer and the ducts that serve second floors often run long distances through a hot attic. Bonus rooms over garages add exposed floors and knee walls to the mix.
Simple checks help: open every register, clear the returns and change the filter. If the room still lags, the answer is usually airflow, not a bigger air conditioner. Our hot upstairs guide walks through the causes and fixes in detail.
Need to heat or cool an addition, garage or sunroom?
A ductless mini-split is usually the cleanest answer. CASC installs Mitsubishi ductless systems that heat and cool a space without tying into your existing ducts.
Tapping a new room into existing ductwork can leave both the new space and the rest of the house short on air. Garages and sunrooms also gain and lose heat quickly through big doors and glass.
A ductless mini-split pairs an outdoor heat pump with an indoor head in the room, so the space gets its own heating, cooling and controls.
Does your house feel muggy even with the AC on?
An oversized or short-cycling AC, duct leaks in a humid crawlspace or attic, and Arkansas summers can all leave indoor air damp. A whole-home dehumidifier is one fix CASC installs.
Your AC removes moisture only while it runs with good airflow across a cold coil. Systems that cool fast and shut off, or ducts that pull damp air from a crawlspace, leave the air sticky.
We start by fixing the cooling system and ducts, then add a whole-home dehumidifier if the house still runs damp on mild days.
How does CASC approach a problem space?
We diagnose the space first, explain what we found in plain language and give you options. HVAC replacements and larger plumbing projects get a free estimate; repair visits start with a $99 service call ($149 weekends and holidays).
We serve 16 cities around Central Arkansas from our North Little Rock shop, Monday through Sunday, 7 AM to 6 PM. Same-day service when availability allows.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a bigger AC to fix a hot room?
Not usually. Hot rooms are more often an airflow or duct problem. A bigger unit can make humidity worse by short cycling.
Can one ductless unit cool a garage or sunroom?
Often, yes. A single indoor head sized for the space is a common setup. We'll size it to the room.
Will a slab leak repair mean tearing up my floors?
Not always. Leak detection pinpoints the leak first, then we explain repair options, including rerouting the line when that makes more sense.

- Hot upstairs bedrooms and bonus rooms Upstairs rooms and bonus rooms run hot because heat rises, roofs bake in summer and the ductwork serving them is often long, leaky or undersized. The fix is usually airflow: duct modifications, sealing and better returns. When ducts can't deliver enough, a ductless mini-split dedicated to that room is a reliable option.
- Heating and cooling additions, garages and sunrooms The cleanest way to heat and cool a garage, sunroom, workshop or addition is usually a ductless mini-split. It works on its own, so you don't overload your existing system or run new ducts. CASC installs Mitsubishi ductless systems sized to the space, with an outdoor unit and one or more indoor heads.
- Sticky air, humid homes and crawlspaces A house feels muggy when the air conditioner cools without removing enough moisture. Common causes are an oversized or short-cycling AC, leaky ducts pulling damp air from a crawlspace or attic, and long humid Arkansas summers. Fixes include correcting the AC and ducts, and a whole-home dehumidifier, which CASC installs.
- Slab-foundation homes: spotting and fixing slab leaks A slab leak is a leak in a water line under or inside a home's concrete foundation. Warning signs include warm spots on the floor, a rising water bill, running-water sounds with every tap off and damp flooring. CASC uses leak detection to pinpoint the leak, then explains repair options before any concrete is opened.

- Ductless mini-split vs extending central air For a room your central air does not reach well, like an addition, garage or bonus room, a ductless mini-split is often the cleaner fix. Extending central air can work when your system has spare capacity and ducts can reach the space. The deciding factors are your system's size, your duct layout and how the room is used.
- How ductwork affects comfort and bills Yes, your ducts can be the reason some rooms stay hot, the house gets dusty or bills climb. Leaky ducts lose cooled air into attics and crawlspaces, undersized or crushed runs starve rooms of air, and missing returns choke the system. Sealing, airflow corrections or duct changes often fix it.
